Be the best-prepared commuter in the office, and look good doing it, with mMnhattan's Green 8 Deluxe. Its smooth Reynolds steel frame and chromoly fork deliver a fast, easily-maneuverable ride. You’ll steer clear of maintenance, too, as the no-fuss, sweet-shifting Shimano Nexus hub provides eight internal gears to tame the hills between you and your destination. The ultra-dependable brakes will slow down fast; providing solid stopping power in all conditions. When the roads get wet, the matching fenders will keep you clean and dry, while the rear rack gives you room to bring along whatever you may need.

Internal hub gearing is a gearing system built into the rear wheel hub. It allows you to shift at any time, even when not pedaling, like at a stop sign. Because the majority of parts are housed within the hub, the gearing mechanism is protected from weather and grime, and therefore requires almost no maintenance. Plus, with less external parts than a derailleur system, you’ll get consistently smooth, reliable shifts.

Comments:

Got this bike so I could retire a car. I commute 4 miles each way to work. Bike has done very nicely in it's intenced use. It is heavy but what commuter bike is not? I did change the rear cog to 23 tooth so that I could climb hills. I have many HUGE hills here and do not want to arrive at work sweaty everyday, so geared low and slow. Added panniers to the factory rear rack and now I can carry lunch and a change of clothes or other assorted stuff. Installed lights for days when I have to stay late at work. I wish it had a dynamo hub. Love the disk/drum brakes, very important when you live in the mountains. Also love the looks of this bike, kinda old timey English 3 speed but with better gears and brakes. It shifts smooth and has not given me a lick of trouble. I am very glad that many other makers are making these bikes now.

Comments:

hunting online for a Shimano alfine 8-speed commuter bike for my daughter. Had to stop to grumble about the lack of a weight listing in specifications. Surely this is important?
